"Mr. Miller involved the children in many of his tricks, had parents and children alike laughing, and pitched the value of books and reading by directing the crowd, approximately 110 people, to two book displays in the room. All but four of the 72 books displayed were checked out!"
Brian Conway
Mt. Prospect Public Library

"As Pack 266 began our planning for this year's upcoming Blue & Gold, I wanted to let you know that the parents still talk about your performance last year ('wonderful,' 'terrific,' 'great job,' 'fabulous'). The scouts were mesmerized and loved it."
John Kempel, Cubmaster, Pack 266, Northbrook

“I was so pleased by the turnout and response to your READINGmagic program. The children really enjoyed the performance, and I was thrilled that they checked out so many magic books afterward.”
Laura Yanchick, Melrose Park Public Library

“Wow! What a great show. The members were still talking about your performance today at lunch, a week later.”
Bob Edwards, Optimist Club of Glenview

"When a performer can keep 174 patrons enthralled by what he is doing, that is certainly a very successful program ... combining dinosaurs and magic - 2 themes that delight children of all ages!"
Carol Shaw, Geneva Public Library District

“Thank you so much for coming to our volunteer banquet. Everyone had a great time and loved the magic show. You really helped make it a magical night for all.”
Margaret Gazdacka, Volunteer Coordinator, The Village of Itasca’s Spring Brook Nature Centert

This unique magic show combines children's timeless fascination with dinosaurs -- and magic.

The goal, of course, is to fan the spark of science in some, and to awaken the interest in others. Children laugh at the surprises, are astounded by the mysteries, participate in the action and learn some things about dinosaurs along the way. They even help take part in making the magic happen.movie magic,Chicago metro, day care centers,Boy Scouts,MOVIEmagic,Girl Scouts, schools, community centers, park districts,Library,Libraries

Mostly, though, it's a lot of fun! At the end, a 21-inch Tyrannosaurus rex magically appears.

MOVIEmagic is an imaginative program which blends movies and magic. It takes the audience through the steps in making a motion picture. And, it is all explained through magic.dino magic, activity for preschoolers to fourth grade, Chicago metro, day care centers, DINOmagic, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, T-rex, schools, community centers, park districts, Tyrannosaurus Rex, dinosaur information, mystery, fantasy, library, dinosaur magic, Libraries

In READINGmagic, the young people are guided on a virtual tour through the library. They learn how to take advantage of the library's many special areas of science, fairy tales, animals, hobbies, fantasy, and more. Each is illustrated by dazzling magic.

Librarians agree that Robert K. Miller's magic shows encourage youngsters to read

Photo credit: Anne White. dino magic, activity for preschooler to fourth grade, Chicago metro area.My programs encourage young people to read. Why? This is where I began my magic career ... at the public library! I tell youngsters that they can even become magicians by checking out books, just as I did when I was in grade school. Since then, I have performed for thousands of children. "You can find out about magic, dinosaurs, movies and anything else, right here in your library."

It's not a lecture, though. This is a time for fun and surprises, a chance to laugh, to wonder at the mystery, to take part in the magic, to be astounded, and to learn.

Do these programs really work?

Ask the children. Also read what librarians and other magical hosts have to say.
